• Pastor Louise Hilbert is a native Floridian who has moved north and loves North Carolina but she will always be a Florida State Fanatic. Her service to the church began in Jacksonville where she was a parish worker at Trinity Lutheran and then she attended Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. Her calls as a parish pastor have been at St. David’s in West Columbia, South Carolina and at Christus Victor in Durham and St. James in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Some people don’t know how to retire, and Pastor Louise is one of them. This is her fourth interim since retiring in 2013. When you love being a pastor, you don’t lose it just because you reach retirement age.

So many wonderful people and connections have been established over the years, and so many more people yet to know and love keep her involved in parish interims.

Pastor Louise and her husband Larry are the parents of three adult children and grandparents of one amazing granddaughter who lives far away in Denver, Colorado. Fortunately, the airlines are still flying.

She looks forward to walking with the people of GSLC as they walk through this interim time, celebrating their life together and continuing to listen to the leading of the Good Shepherd as the future unfolds.

  • Pastor Marsha Anderson

Associate Pastor (currently on parental leave)

Pastor Marsha Anderson is happy to return to her hometown as Associate Pastor at Good Shepherd. In the intervening years, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Spanish at Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!), earned her Master of Divinity at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, served her first call in a large congregation in Minnesota, and was the solo pastor at a small and feisty city church in Reading, PA. She also spent time in California, serving for a year as a hospital chaplain on mental health units and forming an intentional living community with her husband Brian and two other couples.

While God’s call and her healthy sense of adventure have led her to surprising and varied ministry opportunities, the threads that connect them are a passion for radical inclusivity, creative prayer, social justice, and accompaniment through joy and sorrow.

Pastor Marsha is a people-loving introvert. She enjoys good music, especially if it is live. She loves a long walk in the woods. She would rather sit around good food and drink talking about life, love, and God than almost anything else. She lives in Durham with her husband and two children: Drew and Caroline.
