for we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

Sunday School

Biblical storytelling and exploration are the focus of our young children’s time together. Through elementary school, Good Shepherd partners with parents as we prepare our children for the rite of Confirmation, confidently and consistently “placing scripture in their hands.” All Sunday School classes meet from 10:00 to 10:45 throughout the traditional school year, September through May. Three "Generations Together!" Sunday schools are offered this year (October 30, January 8, and February 26). Though Worship & Wonder and 3rd-5th grade will still meet on these dates, all children under 6th grade are welcome to participate in these congregation-inclusive faith formation events with a parent.

Worship & Wonder (meets in Education Wing, Room E-12)

Worship & Wonder is our Sunday School for 3 year olds through 2nd graders. Worship & Wonder combines engaging storytelling with the rhythms of Lutheran-Christian worship. As children listen to and watch a new Bible story unfold each week, they are drawn in and encouraged to respond in their own unique way. We hope every student leaves Worship & Wonder with a deeper knowledge and understanding of Bible stories from both the Old and New Testament

3rd - 5th Grades (meets in the Cabana)

Prior to entering the 3rd grade, students are gifted their own Study Bible at the 2nd Grade Blessing of Bibles event. In Sunday School, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students use this Bible to dig into each Sunday's scripture over these three years. Currently, we are using Illustrated Ministry curriculum in a three-year cycle.

Crosswalk Kids

At Crosswalk Kids, we give children from 3 years old through 5th grade a place to develop their faith and form friendships. From regular kids group gatherings to annual summer camps and family events, Crosswalk Kids engages kids to grow their faith, begin learning about what it means to be a child of God, and building a community that will support them and their families as they grow.

Crosswalk Kids

Crosswalk Kids meets regularly throughout the school year, having fun and growing faith together. Activities include sleepovers, service projects and BYG (Building Youth Groups) weekend retreats at Camp Agape.

Summer Day Camp

Open to all children in rising 1st through 6th grade, Agape Day Camp at Good Shepherd is a fun-filled week led by trained counselors from Camp Agape. At Day Camp, we focus on helping children grow in faith, form new friendships and have fun. The key to Day Camp is the camp staff and the music, arts and crafts, games, nature time and Bible study that they bring to our children – in addition to their great love and contagious enthusiasm for sharing the faith. The week is rounded out with a swimming field trip, service project, water day and lots more!

This week-long musical theater camp takes familiar Bible stories, sets them to music and brings them into modern day times. With

roles for children from rising kindergarten through 6th grade, it culminates with entertaining performances during Sunday morning worship. Summerfest takes place on the weekend and afternoons to allow kids in year-round school to participate.

Family Faith Formation

In addition to activities specifically for children, we recognize that much of a child's faith formation happens at home. To help equip parents with fun ideas for supporting their child in the early stages of their faith journey, family events including an annual Egg Hunt, Advent Festival and Gingerbread House Decorating allow for fun family time together and give great ideas for bringing Christian rituals into our homes. In addition, we celebrate moments in our children's faith life and help parents bring the celebrations home through Milestone Ministry.

Making Music

Music connects us to God in a unique way. At Good Shepherd, even the littlest ones can join a choir and begin making music together. Learn more about all of our choirs and music groups.

Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts of America)

For over 25 years, Good Shepherd has been a Chartered Organization for Scouts BSA (Boy Scouts of America), with a mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Boys and girls from Kindergarten through age 18 have the opportunity to participate in the trail to Eagle Scout in one of Good Shepherd’s Scouts BSA programs.
