Faith Formation
Biblical storytelling and exploration are the focus of our young children’s time together. Good Shepherd partners with parents through elementary school as we prepare our children for the rite of Confirmation, confidently and consistently “placing scripture in their hands.” All Sunday School classes meet from 10:00 to 10:45 throughout the traditional school year, September through May. Register for the 2024-2025 year HERE.
Worship & Wonder (meets in Preschool Wing)
Worship & Wonder is our Sunday School for 3-year-olds through 2nd graders. Worship & Wonder combines engaging storytelling with the rhythms of Lutheran-Christian worship. As children listen to and watch a new Bible story unfold each week, they are drawn in and encouraged to respond in their own unique way. We hope every student leaves Worship & Wonder with a deeper knowledge and understanding of Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments.
3rd - 5th Grades (meets in Underwood East)
Students are gifted their own Study Bibles at the 2nd Grade Blessing of Bibles event prior to entering the 3rd grade. In Sunday School, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students use this Bible and elements of play and drama to dig deeper into the stories each week.
Nursery
From 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. during the program year, the nursery in room E-5 is available for children ages 0-2 so that their grown-ups can participate or serve in their own faith formation opportunity.
Beyond Sunday School
Crosswalk Kids Events
During the school year, Crosswalk Kids (children in kindergarten through fifth grade) will have opportunities to participate in fun, faith-forming activities. These include "almost" sleepovers, family service projects, and BYG (Building Youth Groups) weekend retreats at Camp Agape.
Milestone Blessings
In addition to activities specifically for children, we recognize that much of a child's faith formation happens through the family. Through events like our annual Advent Festival and activity kits we send home for the season of Lent, we equip families to practice faith in the home. Check out our Milestone Ministry plan for all the moments we ask for God's blessing in the lives of the baptized.
Making Music
Music connects us to God in a unique way. Even the littlest ones can join a choir at Good Shepherd and begin making music together. Learn more about all of our choirs and music groups.
Summer Camps
Agape Day Camp is open to all children in 1st through 6th grade. Agape Day Camp at Good Shepherd is a fun-filled week led by trained counselors from Camp Agape. At Day Camp, we focus on helping children grow in faith, form new friendships, and have fun. The key to Day Camp is the camp staff and the music, arts and crafts, games, nature time, and Bible study they bring to our children, in addition to their great love and contagious enthusiasm for sharing the faith.
Summerfest is a week-long musical theater camp that takes familiar Bible stories, sets them to music, and brings them into modern-day times. With roles for children from rising kindergarten through 5th grade, it culminates with entertaining performances during Sunday morning worship. Summerfest takes place on the weekend and afternoons to allow kids in year-round school to participate.

Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts of America)
For over 25 years, Good Shepherd has been a Chartered Organization for Scouts BSA (Boy Scouts of America), with a mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Boys and girls from Kindergarten through age 18 have the opportunity to participate in the trail to Eagle Scout in one of Good Shepherd’s Scouts BSA programs. Learn more here about the Pack and Troops, or from Scouts BSA main website; or if you have specific questions, please contact admin@gslchurch.org.
