Small Groups at Good Shepherd

Care Groups

Care Groups are open to anyone interested in growing their faith, developing closer relationships with others in a small group, and reaching out to others in practical ways with the love of Jesus. Groups are often formed out of a shared situation or common life experience, but they are generally open to everyone. New groups are formed throughout the year and meet at various locations, including church, homes and restaurants. Groups that are currently meeting are Couples and Singles, Empty Nester Couples, Moms’ Bible Study, Seekers,  and Young Adult Bible Study.

Centering Prayer

Each week, a group gathers to pray for the people of the church and our world. Cynthia Bourgeault describes Centering Prayer as the silent prayer of the heart, which begins with intention and desire, journeys through the inner labyrinth removing blocks along the way, to reach the deep place within you where the Spirit is always praying, where you and Love are One. It is a process of surrender, resting, listening. Anyone is invited to join at any time.

Dinner for Eight

Dinner for Eight is a group (not a gourmet club!) that gets together for dinner four times a year, with an annual kickoff social. This ministry was started to enrich our lives by our fellowship and awareness of God’s presence in each other. Each dinner, you will dine with different people, giving you a chance to get to know a larger group of people.

Eastern NC Lutheran Via de Cristo (VdC)

Via de Cristo is a Spanish phrase meaning “Way of Christ.” Via de Cristo is a structured three-day weekend designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people and bring them to a new awareness of living in God’s grace. It is a combined effort of lay people and clergy toward renewal of the church. Eastern NC VdC is held at Camp Agape in Fuquay-Varina, NC throughout the year.

Wednesday Morning Book and Bible Study

Led by pastors and others, Wednesday Morning Book and Bible Study works through studies published by several Christian denominations. If you have a thirst for knowledge, a love for reading, and a free Wednesday morning, you are invited to join!
