• Pastor tim brown

    senior pastor

Pastor Tim (PT) joins the staff of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church as Senior Pastor most recently hailing from Chicago, IL. His Bachelors Degree in Theology is from Valparaiso University, as is his Masters in Education. He taught 7th and 8th grades in Chicago for a few years before answering the call to seminary, graduating from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago with an M.Div. He writes regularly for The Lutheran magazine, crafts commentary and worship ideas for Augsburg Fortress through Sundays and Seasons, and has been a guest blogger on a number of sites. His particular theological interests lies at the intersection of faith and doubt, and he keeps a blog of running thoughts at reluctantxtian.wordpress.com.

PT is a huge Green Bay Packer fan, holding out hope against hope that his contract with them will be picked up before he retires. He enjoys good coffee, craft beer (which he has been known to brew), and writing (and passionately defends use of the Oxford comma). He imagines a world where all people live in God’s peace, and works towards that end in acts of love and justice. He lives in Raleigh with his wife Rhonda and two sons, Findley and Alistair. He has occasionally written longer bios, but can’t remember when, and he looks forward to sitting down with you over coffee and beer to talk about your hopes, dreams, and about God’s work in your life.

  • Pastor Marsha Anderson

    Associate Pastor

Pastor Marsha Anderson is happy to return to her hometown as Associate Pastor at Good Shepherd. In the intervening years, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Spanish at Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!), earned her Master of Divinity at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, served her first call in a large congregation in Minnesota, and was the solo pastor at a small and feisty city church in Reading, PA. She also spent time in California, serving for a year as a hospital chaplain on mental health units and forming an intentional living community with her husband Brian and two other couples.

While God’s call and her healthy sense of adventure have led her to surprising and varied ministry opportunities, the threads that connect them are a passion for radical inclusivity, creative prayer, social justice, and accompaniment through joy and sorrow.

Pastor Marsha is a people-loving introvert. She enjoys good music, especially if it is live. She loves a long walk in the woods. She would rather sit around good food and drink talking about life, love, and God than almost anything else. She lives in Durham with her husband and two children: Drew and Caroline.
