Habitat House Nears Completion.

As we complete our Habitat House, we give thanks to God for all those who labored in this important process. We also wanted to inform you that Christina Dixon has withdrawn her application to be the home owner. Habitat of Wake let us know this late last week. Our understanding is that a new home owner will be found as soon as possible. Once we learn who the new home owner is, we will set a home dedication date. This project is part of Good Shepherd's 25th Anniversary Campaign. Thanks to all who gave of their time and resources to make this dream a reality. What a great way to say "Thank You, Lord!"

Gentle Shepherd Chorus

Habitat Logo

The Gentle Shepherd Chorus wrapped up its season with a party in the choir room on April 22, 2008. Note the beautiful yellow cake that commemorates the occasion of the choir's First Year! Pictured above is Dick Pailthorpe, Mary Anthony, Vera Tunstall, Merry Oestreich, Carol Henderson, Lois Smarella, Wanda Eickhoff, Dana Geesaman, Julia Altemose, and Mike Stroud.

This group of "gentle" singers meets on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30-2:45 in the Choir Room September-May. They have been able to sing at regular intervals for worship throughout the year. They have had fun and enjoyed laughing, praying and singing together each week. In the fall, their activity will resume and would love to have anyone come and join us for our sessions of commadeship on Tuesday afternoons.

Christian Education Ministy Task Forces Forming

Habitat LogoThe Christian Education Ministry Team is forming Task forces in response to the accepted recommendation from the SME Task Force Team.  The recommendation is available here. Taskforces are being formed in the following areas: CE Taskforce Visioning Development Team; CE Taskforce Curriculum Recommendation Team for 4-6 grade (immediate) & Long-term Comprehensive Curriculum; CE Taskforce 1st – 3rd Grade CGS Modification Team. If you would like to sign up or learn more about any of these task forces team or to teach next year, please email Brenda Dozer (Brenda@gslchurch.org).

Green Newsletters Available (puns intended)

Habitat LogoIn the survey from the Media Ministry last year, a number of you indicated that you would be interested in receiving the monthly newsletter online in place of a paper copy via postal mail. Others expressed interest in continuing to receive a paper copy. We plan to accommodate both groups. If you would like to continue receiving a paper newsletter, you do not need to do anything. It will continue to arrive in your mailbox around the first of the month. However, should you prefer to view the newsletter online and / or download it yourself, please email the church office with your name and email address and a request for electronic delivery. We will send an email notification when the newsletter becomes available online (usually a week before the paper copy arrives). Viewing the newsletter online saves our resources (green) and also provides you a better experience with color (green and the rest of the colors) and with better photographs.
